The short version
Zenko keeps what you write on your device. There is no account, nothing is sold, and the few things we do collect are named below, along with the companies that receive them.
What stays on your device
- Your content and progress: the name you give Zenko, your quests and routines, focus session history, streaks, bond progress, and app settings. This lives in the app's local storage and is included in your standard iOS device backups. We do not operate servers that receive it.
- Widget data: a small summary (your name, streak, and quest progress) is shared with the Zenko home screen widget through Apple's App Group storage, entirely on your device.
- Notifications: daily reminders are scheduled locally by your phone. We cannot see them.
App blocking and Screen Time
If you ask Zenko to guard your apps, iOS shows you Apple's own Screen Time permission prompt and its own app picker. Your choice is handled by Apple's Family Controls system and stored on your device.
We never learn which apps you picked. Apple hands them to the app as opaque tokens that cannot be read or sent anywhere, and by design they never leave your phone. The number of times you turned back at the shield is also stored only on your device.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and tell the app whether a subscription is active. It receives an app generated identifier and your purchase receipt, not your name and not your payment information.
Analytics
We use PostHog to count product events, for example "onboarding completed" or "session finished". These carry an app generated identifier rather than your name, and they never include the content of your quests, your routines, or the name you gave the fox. Only App Store builds send them.
How we know which post brought you here
We use AppsFlyer for install attribution: when Zenko is installed after someone sees one of our posts or adverts, it tells us which campaign it came from. It receives device identifiers provided by Apple.
That is measurement of our own marketing, and the difference is worth being exact about. Zenko does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not follow you across other companies' apps or websites. That is why the app declares no tracking on its App Store privacy label.
Crash reports
We use Sentry to receive a diagnostic report when the app crashes, so it can be fixed. A report describes the technical state of the crash. It is configured not to attach personal information, and it is used only to keep the app working, never to build a picture of you. Only App Store builds send them.
This website
We use PostHog to measure website visits, referring sites, campaign links, and clicks on the App Store buttons. Website events are marked separately from app events. We do not connect your website visit to your identity in the app.
Website analytics use PostHog's cookieless mode, which derives a short-lived identifier on its servers from request information, including IP address and browser information. It does not store analytics cookies or identifiers in your browser. Session recordings and automatic interaction capture are disabled, and we respect your browser's Do Not Track setting. Our sound preference is stored locally only so the website remembers your choice.
What we never do
- No selling or renting your data, to anyone, ever.
- No advertising SDKs that follow you across other companies' apps or websites.
- No reading the content of your quests or routines off your device.
- No account required, and no email address needed to use the app.
Deleting your data
Use "Start over" in Settings to wipe your progress. It also cancels scheduled reminders and clears any app blocking. Deleting the app removes what is stored on the device. To have records deleted from the services named above, email us and we will action it.
Children
Zenko is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will be flagged inside the app.
